6 Easy Ways to Transition Your Bedroom from Winter to Spring

Winter to Spring Bedroom

When we’re hitting 80s in March, I feel #blessed to live in Florida. I can start visiting my favorite plant nursery again, brighter colors are everywhere, and I can make Italian sodas without judgment… warm weather is the best. Plus, the season change is the perfect excuse to redecorate 😉

With the new Anthropologie and Target spring lines, I’m itching to transition our bedroom from winter to spring. The folks at Havenly got me brainstorming and I wanted to share some tips for an easy bedroom refresh.

There’s no such thing as too many throw pillows! Pillows can add texture and pattern to your bed as well as making it super comfy, so pile them on! I like to swap out our fluffy, fuzzy, and velvet throws with tufted and fringed options and our DIY linen lumbar pillow.

Nothing gets you into a new season mindset like aromatherapy. To stimulate your senses, try lighting a candle and playing a special relaxing playlist. Havenly has the perfect cozy playlist here! For candles, find a scent between woodsy and sweet to strike that transition season balance. My absolute favorite all year-round candle is Moonlight Island from Target. An Apartment Therapy article dubbed it a dupe for Anthropologie’s Capri Blue Volcano, and now I’m tempted to keep one in every room.

As the weather starts to warm up, switch out your satin, silk, or flannel winter sheets with lightweight, breathable cotton ones to keep your bed cool and comfy. For the nights that still like to remind you that winter isn’t technically over, keep a thicker throw blanket on top. Or flip it! Keep you flannel sheets but switch out your thick duvet to a lightweight quilt. Mixing linen textures is a great way to customize your bed and easy to pull together if they’re in a complementary color palette.

The Havenly peeps are huge fans of crisp white sheets and bedding. Falling into a fluffy white bed at the end of the day will make you feel like you’re staying at a hotel every night. Plus the clean white look works with every style decor and you can just change the throws with the season!

Warmer weather = planting weather. Bring in some fresh greens with air cleaning plants to help you sleep better at night. Go bold with a large rubber tree or subtle with some nightstand lavender for easy breathing.

Above the bed is prime real estate for decorating. A gallery wall in lighter colors contrasted in white in black frames keep the spring, light-and-airy feel even if your linens are darker, winter colors.

Don’t overlook your floors! Warm up bare floors with a wool or polypropylene rug. Havenly points out that wool is known for being warm and durable, but polypropylene is a great option if you’re looking for something more affordable and softer. A lot of home stores have rug sales between winter & spring, so it’s the perfect time to look for an all season piece! (Psst, World Market is having up to 50% off rugs right now! Check out this flat woven, geometric beauty or this blush, Moroccan shag!)

What are some ways you get your bedroom ready for spring?

Look twice; it’s no split image, it’s my one of my Look twice; it’s no split image, it’s my one of my favorite parts from the #haileyhome condo. There Michael had his desk shoved in the corner of our small bedroom. As much as I wanted a light and airy feel, the desk always felt unintentionally “floaty”. With just paint and shelves, his desk went from an afterthought to a defined workspace with it’s own voice that felt distinct yet still a part of the room.

In our current house, I’m looking back at this project since next on my list will be Michael’s office! Michael inspired me with his 5 year anniversary gift to me (a nice furniture piece- he definitely knows me ☺️) so my gift to him will be wood shelves for his new office, plus a little space makeover.

Excited to take on a small project while the kitchen reno is underway. It’ll feel nice to feel project progress somewhere and get hands on for the first time since Cade arrived ☺️

It’s worth the space it takes up though. Capturing his growth and personality feels like the greatest privilege. I can’t believe there were only 3 weeks between his newborn and 1 month photos 🥲

I’ll take any and all inducing tips 😅

I’ve been auditioning different rooms around the new house for my studio space. Some have great storage, some have better natural light, but NONE have over headlight lighting. I didn’t think much of it until I tried crafting after work and realized, dang, I really can’t see anything 😅. I tried to make it work with different table lamps, photography lighting, even grow lights (spoiler: do not attempt unless you like being blinded). It wasn’t great. I figured I’d eventually get a proper crafting light, but wasn’t thrilled with the limited, and frankly ugly, options.

I bet you picked up on this from the photo, but I finally found THE solution. @cricut just released their Cricut Bright 360 task lamps and it’s everything I could have ever dreamed of! I’ve been putting this lamp through its paces for a few weeks with nesting DIYs and will have a full review on the blog soon!
