Happy Halloween month! This DIY is courtesy of a costume idea that turned out a little too basic for a full tutorial. So instead, I’m sharing how to make the printable plant pin part of a DIY Crazy Plant Lady costume.
Alrighty, there aren’t that many step photos, but I’m confident everyone is familiar with shrinky dink! I attempted a polymer clay version of pins a year ago and could not get the crisp and glossy look I was going for. Then I remembered shrinky dink comes in white!!
You’ll Need:
white shrink film
Mod Podge Dimensional Magic
pin backs
- Print the designs at 50% opacity with an Inkjet printer.
- Bake according to instructions with a piece of parchment paper over to keep them from curling onto themselves.
- Let cool completely then gloss with the Dimensional Magic.
- Glue on your pinbacks and wear proudly! I like the root root root for the grown team as encouragement haha.
They also make super cute plant wrap additions! (More info on the embroidered hands this weekend.)
For the actual costume part, I think there are a few items that can really sell the Crazy Plant Lady. Baggy shirt, drawstring pants, Birkenstocks, and if you’re really dedicated, hauling around a giant plant. Bonus points for dirt under your nails and wearing plants in your hair.
Our little patio is bursting with green right now and I absolutely love it! How would you do a Crazy Plant Lady Costume? Would you be interested in full enamel versions of the pins? Let me know!
