DIY Faux Marble Paper Mache Chain Decor

DIY Faux Marble Paper Mache Chain Decor

You know those wishlist items you know would completely tie your room together but you still can’t bring yourself to plunk down the cold hard cash? That’s how I felt about all the beautiful, oversized wood links that have been popping up on every coffee table on every interior design blog. Sustainable and sculptural, bold yet neutral, they were that piece that seemed to make the room. Between the hemming and hawing of buying a piece, I thought it would be a fun challenge to DIY it. And if it didn’t work, well that was just another way to justify buying it. Thankfully, it turned out 100x better than I was expecting and just by using what we had at home! Read More

My Work From Home Essentials for a Productive Space

My-Work-From-Home-Essentials-for-a-Productive-Space

Hello from my home office! I don’t talk about my day job here much (which I’m going to start doing!) but recently our entire company has moved to work from home to flatten the COVID-19 curve. Making the jump from the shared office where I have a dedicated space that put me in a productive mindset to turning my studio from a creative, experimentation place more attuned for video calls was thankfully easy with some minor tweaks. I realized working from home might be a new experience for others, so I wanted to share the small additions I use to carve out a dedicated workspace in our home. Read More

13 Modern DIY Ideas for When You’re Social Distancing

Have you heard of the term “social distancing”? Social distancing is the practice of avoiding large public groups and cutting down our social interactions to flatten the curve (aka do our small part to help cut down the spread of COVID-19). With conferences & events getting canceled and the rise of working from home, it can be easy to go stir crazy. This post almost felt frivolous in the face of everything, but that’s exactly why I think we should look for ways to turn our energy towards something positive and creative. Here are some beginner-friendly DIYs that don’t require a lot of supplies so you can start practicing meditative crafting while homebound. Read More

Look twice; it’s no split image, it’s my one of my Look twice; it’s no split image, it’s my one of my favorite parts from the #haileyhome condo. There Michael had his desk shoved in the corner of our small bedroom. As much as I wanted a light and airy feel, the desk always felt unintentionally “floaty”. With just paint and shelves, his desk went from an afterthought to a defined workspace with it’s own voice that felt distinct yet still a part of the room.

In our current house, I’m looking back at this project since next on my list will be Michael’s office! Michael inspired me with his 5 year anniversary gift to me (a nice furniture piece- he definitely knows me ☺️) so my gift to him will be wood shelves for his new office, plus a little space makeover.

Excited to take on a small project while the kitchen reno is underway. It’ll feel nice to feel project progress somewhere and get hands on for the first time since Cade arrived ☺️
I set up a baby studio for Cade’s “month by month” I set up a baby studio for Cade’s “month by month” shots and there’s no way I’m taking it down for the rest of the year 😅

It’s worth the space it takes up though. Capturing his growth and personality feels like the greatest privilege. I can’t believe there were only 3 weeks between his newborn and 1 month photos 🥲

I’ll take any and all inducing tips 😅

I’ve been auditioning different rooms around the new house for my studio space. Some have great storage, some have better natural light, but NONE have over headlight lighting. I didn’t think much of it until I tried crafting after work and realized, dang, I really can’t see anything 😅. I tried to make it work with different table lamps, photography lighting, even grow lights (spoiler: do not attempt unless you like being blinded). It wasn’t great. I figured I’d eventually get a proper crafting light, but wasn’t thrilled with the limited, and frankly ugly, options.

I bet you picked up on this from the photo, but I finally found THE solution. @cricut just released their Cricut Bright 360 task lamps and it’s everything I could have ever dreamed of! I’ve been putting this lamp through its paces for a few weeks with nesting DIYs and will have a full review on the blog soon!
