Kids -  Valentine's Day

Easy Toddler Class Valentine’s Under $20, No Junk

easy toddler class valentine's

OK, so junk might be a strong word, but I can’t be the only parent who is tired of the seemingly endless sea of plastic my kids bring home from parties and holiday events that they lose interest in the second it leaves their sightline. So, when I say ‘not junk’, it has to be either edible, an activity, or a ‘high value’ trinket (something they’ll ask about after it’s been put away). And I know there’s a whole push to go old school and do just paper cards, but Valentine’s Day is my favorite holiday, and I have such fun memories of having Valentine specific crafts and activities.

As much as I love DIY (and you absolutely could take any of these sets and make them cuter and I am working on a DIY post I was able to make between meetings), I’m also a full-time working mom with 2 kids under 4 (+ expecting our third), which means I’m looking for complete kits- trinket, card, all included.

Each of these sets is at least 20 cards, which feels like a safe starting point for an average class size, and I wanted the kits to all be roughly the same quantity for price comparison.

Rainbow Stacking Crayons | 24 Pcs $18.99
These kinds of crayons were so much fun growing up! Also great for fine motor skills for the 3+ crowd once they’re out of the putting everything in their mouth phase.

Watercolor Coloring Books | 24 Pcs $16.99
A low mess, all in one craft. Introduced our 3 year old to these watercolor pages and he asks for them over coloring pages!

Love Bug Suncatchers Craft Kits | 30 Pcs $19.99
A painting alternative with a longer lasting keepsake.

Valentine’s Temporary Tattoos | 48 Pcs $12.99
Tattoos are always a hit and don’t stick around, contributing to toy clutter.

Shoe Charms | 30 Pcs $11.99
Would give to older toddlers, 4+. Crocs are super popular kids’ shoes, and charms are a fun way for kiddos to express themselves.

Animal Puzzle Erasers | 36 Pcs $12.99
Tiny, adorable, and useful!

Silly Straws | 28 Pcs $11.99
Something about drinking milk out of a silly straw never gets old.

Pop It Keychains | 30 Pcs $13.99
Travel friendly fidget. Perfect outing kit addition.

Valentine’s Strawberry Scentcils | 26 Pcs $15.99
For older toddlers (heck, I would have loved these even through high school).

Look twice; it’s no split image, it’s my one of my Look twice; it’s no split image, it’s my one of my favorite parts from the #haileyhome condo. There Michael had his desk shoved in the corner of our small bedroom. As much as I wanted a light and airy feel, the desk always felt unintentionally “floaty”. With just paint and shelves, his desk went from an afterthought to a defined workspace with it’s own voice that felt distinct yet still a part of the room.

In our current house, I’m looking back at this project since next on my list will be Michael’s office! Michael inspired me with his 5 year anniversary gift to me (a nice furniture piece- he definitely knows me ☺️) so my gift to him will be wood shelves for his new office, plus a little space makeover.

Excited to take on a small project while the kitchen reno is underway. It’ll feel nice to feel project progress somewhere and get hands on for the first time since Cade arrived ☺️

It’s worth the space it takes up though. Capturing his growth and personality feels like the greatest privilege. I can’t believe there were only 3 weeks between his newborn and 1 month photos 🥲

I’ll take any and all inducing tips 😅

I’ve been auditioning different rooms around the new house for my studio space. Some have great storage, some have better natural light, but NONE have over headlight lighting. I didn’t think much of it until I tried crafting after work and realized, dang, I really can’t see anything 😅. I tried to make it work with different table lamps, photography lighting, even grow lights (spoiler: do not attempt unless you like being blinded). It wasn’t great. I figured I’d eventually get a proper crafting light, but wasn’t thrilled with the limited, and frankly ugly, options.

I bet you picked up on this from the photo, but I finally found THE solution. @cricut just released their Cricut Bright 360 task lamps and it’s everything I could have ever dreamed of! I’ve been putting this lamp through its paces for a few weeks with nesting DIYs and will have a full review on the blog soon!
