This CB2 tree was love at first sight. Those clean lines, the adaptability! And then I saw the price. $50? Erp. With a little bit of planning though, there’s a way to create the same look for $5.
Supplies
$3 LED string lights from Target’s dollar spot*
string
pack of nails
Start by creating a triangle outline. Tape down the shape to make adjustments before committing to hammering in your nails. Loosely string your lights through the tree outline making sure the battery pack centers on the triangle base.
*Using LED bulbs means the lights will not overheat and pose a fire hazard next to the cards.
In each node where the lights loop across the string, hammer in a nail. This will keep the overall shape. This string of lights is great because you can pinch the wire to hold your place as you work.
Once the lights are up, it’s time to hide the battery pack. Use a Command strip to adhere the back of the battery to the wall. While that is setting, cut a piece of kraft paper to fit over the top, front, & bottom of the battery pack and glue to the removable cover. Keep the sides open to reach the toggle switch. You now have a lil tree stump power source!
