Every year I struggle decorating our home for fall- my default mode is lots of white, greens, and light woods that naturally feel more summery. I usually just end up buying tiny pumpkins, scattering them around the house, and calling it a day. This year though, I really wanted to tie in that summer feel. What better way to do that than with a little gold?
Do you guys follow Idle Hands Awake? Marlene did an amazing bedroom makeover, and I kept coming back to how she used copper botanicals to brighten up her bedside. But seeing how this house is a Florida home, we of course had to use palm fronds.
I had pretty good success shaping the fronds post painting, but to make sure there is absolutely zero cracking, shape the fronds before spraying.
You’ll Need
faux fronds
gold spray paint
Stick the fronds into a weighted can. Lightly spray paint the top of the fronds, making sure to really cover the tips.
Flip the fronds over and repeat to the underside.
I love how these go with the Anthropologie inspired vases and helps keep transition the rest of home into fall!
Shortly after shooting this, I saw something similar on Anthropologie’s site. I have to say, I prefer the DIY! Mostly because I’d feel ridiculous spending $30+¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
What’s your favorite season to decorate for?

CAT! I LOVE these so much! That touch of gold really highlights the simple, elegant shape of the fronds. And your styling! As always, just gorgeous. You’ve got such an eye for good design. Thanks so much for linking to me, I just adore how this came out! xx
