We’ve already had our first snow in Chicago! How crazy is that? My closet is lacking serious sweater game for snow. To keep warm inside, I’ll be turning to this decadent recipe. Dark chocolate with a little bit of spice can make anyone a bit braver this winter.
Dark & Spicy Hot Chocolate | serves 2
1 5 oz. dark chocolate bar, 70%+
2 pinches cayenne pepper
pinch of salt
3 cups milk of choice (note: the higher the fat content of the milk, the richer the end taste. And really, you’re melting a bar of chocolate here- go all the way)
toppings of choice
In a small saucepan or pot, gently warm your milk at a low heat. Bringing milk quickly to a high temp will cook it.
While the milk is heating up, use a knife to chop your chocolate bar into small chunks. Too big and the chocolate won’t melt, too fine (like grating on a cheese grater fine), and the chocolate will float to the surface without distributing.
Whisk in the chopped chocolate, stirring throughout to ensure a smooth consistency. Once the chocolate is mixed in, add your cayenne powder and salt. Serve with your favorite topping.
Being home for the holidays means having this fuzz ball as a helper.
