The Chicago Cultural Center is a city staple that keeps a fantastic, rotating exhibit list. Right now, they are hosting the Chicago Architecture Biennial “The State of the Art of Architecture”, free & open to the public, until Jan 3rd. It’s an amazing opportunity to see emerging trends in architecture & observe how much it bisects everyday life. For more info, visit their website or pop in from 10-7 M-Th, 10-6 F-Su.
And because it is an architecture exhibit, I had to pull this OOTD guide together. In school, the industrial designers were always asking the architect students why their professors only wore black. Really. Our College of Architecture housed industrial design, architecture, and building construction programs, and you could spot who belonged to what from a mile away. So, I paid homage to all my impeccably dressed, AutoCAD abused friends. Keep up the good fight guys.
How To Dress Like A Pseudo Architect
+ BLACK. There is no other color. If you’re really committed, not even gray.
+ Exaggerated proportions. Usually tight on bottom, over sized on top.
+ Undone hair. Styled, but just the right amount of undone.
+ Rounded frames. Rectangles are sooo Prairie style.
+ Minimalist shoes.
+ No patterns. Broke this one following the proportions rule- shame faced.
+ Bold, but minimal, makeup. Or completely, 100%, bare faced.
