Anybody have cookout plans for the 4th? Claim desserts as your contribution and dazzle with these ridiculously easy cupcake toppers. These guys are low cost and take no time at all! But they still give that perfect amount of sparkle to any patriotic spread.
This diy was born from being fixated on having a patriotic diy this year and having no clue where to start. So I wandered up and down the craft aisles like a crazy person. I was originally looking for tinsel to make firework toppers but was given multiple side eyes from Michaels employees for asking for tinsel not in December haha. I’m also a firm believer of not making things complicated for the sake of complication so these glitter star stickers were a God send.
You’ll Need
star stickers
toothpicks
Steps
1 | Stick the toothpick to the back of the sticker. Hot glue if sticker adhesive isn’t strong enough.
2 | Accessorize your cupcakes!
Finding glittery star stickers is the ‘hardest’ part of this diy. I found these at Michaels in the craft foam section. They had almost every color! I’ve linked a similar set below as well. If you can’t find stickers, try a star punch on glitter cardstock and hot glue the pieces to the toothpicks.
This one is so easy I’m almost embarrassed to post a diy about it. Maybe it’s more of a quick party hack? They just turned out so cute though! And photograph so nicely. Also, a quick shout out of appreciation to my husband who made the cupcakes for this shoot!
I dragged the poor guy all over town looking for supplies and daylight was quickly slipping away. He offered to make the cupcakes while I started another project once we couldn’t find any cupcakes that were in theme and not $5 each. Good thing I have him locked down 😉

Girl, you are a genius! These are adorable! I LOVE that they’re not the traditional red white and blue — I much prefer simpler takes on holiday DIYs and this one is perfection! And your husband made those cupcakes including the gorgeous frosting?? You are one lucky lady! 😀

Agreed! If I tried to match the exact reds and blues throughout a theme, I’d go crazy haha. And he really is a special one <3
